He may not have been Garibaldi, but Sandokan, the Tiger of Malaysia, as a hero of many worlds contributed in his own way to the making of Italy, or at least of the imagination of the Italians. Based on Salgari\u2019s pirate saga, which had sparked the thirst for adventure for many generations, the television miniseries (called sceneggiati <\/em>at the time) was worshipped universally when it first appeared on January 6, 1976. After its success in Italy, it was sold to 85 countries, including the United States. Still today it lives on in the hearts of fans who saw it over forty years ago, and it continues to win over new followers, undeniable proof of the show\u2019s magic chemistry, which is often mistaken for simplicity. In reality, it is hard to find that perfect balance of lovable characters (even the bad ones), believable exotic scenes, the adrenaline of adventure, sentimental sparks and a thirst for justice. The theme music by Oliver Onions is the sweet icing on a very tasty cake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sandokan, the pirate of Malaysia, fights against the tyranny of the English invaders led by the wicked Lord Brook.
