In a gloomy 1950s setting, the plot revolves around criminal gangs from Corsica and Marseilles operating in the depths of the underworld. They will have to come to terms with fading loyalties and must always be ready to settle old scores. The film also boasts a highly dependable director and a pair of actors straight out of the history of the detective genre: Frenchman Michel Constantin and American Henry Silva, two of most recognisable tough-skinned and unflappable bad guys around.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Corsican criminal Fantoni ends up in prison for a crime he did not commit: the murder of his own godfather. When released, he seeks revenge on those who framed him: his former accomplices.
