Synopsis

A highly effective gangster film, a historical reconstruction of real-life events

Alain Delon still knows how to hypnotise, with the help of a hairpiece

Following the success of Flic Story, the Jacques Deray-Alain Delon partnership continued with another film based on real-life events. This time, the story of the Tractions Avant criminal gang, who ran riot on French soil in the immediate post-war period. Once again, this film manages to satisfy audiences in search of convincing action, as well as fans of accurate reconstructions of a certain time and place in history. However, compared to Flic Story, this film has a more euphoric air to it: the robberies lead to drunken celebrations, the camaraderie in the band feels authentic, and there is also a love interest. All of which only serves to make the eventual break-up even more bitter. Alain Delon wears a thick curly wig that has something hypnotic about it.

Robert, AKA Pierrot-le-fou, is the head of a band of thieves. Every time they make a successful hit, they celebrate in style. After being caught and managing to escape justice with a daring escape, he decides the time has come to pull off one last big job in style. He should have stopped a little earlier.
