Synopsis

Al Bano cheats on Romina, but with a voice like his anything can be forgiven

Great Italian love songs meet comedy

That Al Bano and Romina were not the perfect fairytale couple was made perfectly clear in this film. In particular, he is not exactly what one would call a saint. He has to leave for a tour of the USA, but it doesn’t take him long to completely forget all about his wife and young son at home and hook up with his English teacher. Naturally, betrayal is a dreadful thing, and while forgiveness can put things right again, trust goes straight out the window. But while we discuss morals, let us also be swept away by Al Bano’s beautiful voice and a playlist of wonderful songs (in addition to the title song, which won the “Song of the Summer Award 1969”, it also features the unforgettable Nel sole). The comedy, an ever-present in romantic musicarello films, is provided by a young Paolo Villaggio, who somewhat prophetically plays a character called Filini.

Engineer Albani becomes a successful singer and is about to embark on an American tour, leaving his wife and young son at home. He ends up in the arms of his English teacher, which, understandably, his wife is none too happy about. Will she be willing to forgive him?
