Piedone, the giant with a heart of gold, defeats drugs traffickers in the Far East to the sound of slaps
Bud Spencer consolidates his place as the number one family favourite of Italian cinema
For this second chapter in the Piedone series, the short-tempered inspector with a heart of gold inside a hefty frame makes his way to the Far East. Bud Spencer’s inspector retains all his unique characteristics: a human understanding for small-time crooks, who at the end of the day are relatively harmless, but the determination of a steamroller when up against the big bosses. In travelling to Bangkok, Hong Kong and Macau, our intrepid hero has the opportunity to sample some of the local attractions (temples, dances, rickshaws) and demonstrate that his effective methods also prove to be infallible against adversaries skilled in martial arts. By Steno’s own admission, the idea was to have some fun in James Bond-esque exotic settings. However, sophisticated gadgets are superfluous in the face of traditional punch-ups. The character is full of humanitarian goodness, making him a hit with all the family.
Here we go again. Inspector Piedone of the Neapolitan Narcotics Division clashes with his superiors, who don’t appreciate his unorthodox methods. He remains true to himself and goes on a mission to the Far East to take on some international drug smugglers. He also manages to catch a corrupt colleague and return home with an orphaned boy.
Inspector Rizzo (Bud Spencer) gets involved in a daring adventure set in Naples and Bangkok. Naturally, the Law will prevail, to the sound of slaps and punches.
