Line-up development 2023 – 2024


Today was held at “The House of Cinema” in Rome the presentation of the development line-up of Titanus, the historical italian film and television production and distribution house.

After an introduction held by the President of Titanus, Guido Lombardo, the Vice President Simone Conti and the Chief executive officer Massimo Veneziano, the General Manager Stefano Bethlen illustrated the plans for the future of Titanus announcing the two editorial development lines that will be divided by the company’s projects: Legacy and Originals.

Titanus Legacy is an editorial line regarding timeless icons of the past, stories that still offer infinite possibilities for the creation of prequels, sequels, reboots, remakes, with the aim of conquering today’s demanding and constantly evolving audience.

The projects will be developed starting from the rich Titanus Library of almost 400 titles, and will also extend to IP ( intellectual properties) that the company is acquiring on the market.

4 Legacy titles have been announced; the 1st is “Piedone”, in which a young contemporary detective takes the role of the legendary Commissioner Rizzo, played in 1973 by Bud Spencer, to solve the most incredible cases in Naples present day.

The series was introduced by Sonia Rovai, Senior Director of Scripted Production of Sky Studios, Lorenzo Gangarossa, producer of Wildside (a company of the Fremantle group), both development partners of the series; Beppe Fiore Head writer and Salvatore Esposito co-author of the subject.

Ciociara” series proposes to talk about the before and after of the events narrated in De Sica’s cinematic masterpiece that made Sophia Loren an international star: a series that aims to be both a prequel and a sequel of the film in which the lives of “Cesira” and “Rosetta” are retraced from their beginning from which 100 years have now passed. The project was introduced by the critic and journalist Marco Spagnoli and by Dario Rodino.

Pietro Innocenzi, producer of the film “ Palermo-Milan one way”, has taken part in the presentation of Palermo-Milan the series: the historical icon of the 90s detective stories becomes a modern TV series, full of action and adrenaline, in which two young police officers will find themselves becoming heroes. 

To complete the Titanus Legacy line and the Excange, an international distributor based in Los Angeles, there has also been an announcement regarding the co-development of Phenomena: Dario Argento’s cult horror that after 30 years will thrill lovers of the genre all over the world.

Titanus Originals line will include projects created with a clear cultural value and a strong commercial vocation: films and TV series that talk about involving and important stories that have a strong connection with our country.

The 1st project is the film “Elena’s war”: the true story of Elena Di Porto, a roman jewish who rebelled against the rules imposed by men and fascists in the 1940’s.

A woman who will be remembered for having saved many lives during a roundup in the Ghetto of Rome. The Director and Author Stefano Casertano presented the project.

Titanus development manager Duilio Simonelli and co-author of the story and screenplay Fabio Morici introduced the film “Agnese and Francesca”: the exciting unpublished story of the friendship between two brave and strong women who carry a heavy burden on their shoulders for being the wives of the magistrates Falcone and Borsellino.

The 3rd project is “Ludwig”, presented by Jacopo Sonnino, editor of Titanus and co-author of the story: it talks about the true story of Italy’s most prolific serial killers couple Abel and Furlan, a duo of unscrupulous killers whom for 10 years spread panic in our country.

Massimiliano Di Lodovico, founder of Masifilm, talked about the co-development and co-production partnership started with Titanus.

Special project – “Camorrista” – the Series.

The work, still unpublished today, that established the directorial debut of Oscar winning “Giuseppe Tornatore” (1986) whom attended personally to illustrate the project, will be restored and digitized in 4K and 5.1 audio by Titanus, that recovered the original films from the archives of the “Cineteca of Bologna”.

The story talks about, after more than 30 years, one of the most controversial events in italian history, driving the viewer into the depths of organized crime starting from the story inspired by the life of Raffaele Cutolo, the founder of the new organized camorra.
