Synopsis

Alvaro piuttosto corsaro was originally a theatrical show by Garinei and Giovannini, the duo that introduced the musical comedy to Italian theatre, taking inspiration from the American model and flavouring it with the national tradition of the variety show. The great success of the show, as was also previously the case with Attanasio cavallo vanesio, called for its faithful transfer onto the silver screen with the same protagonists. The star of the show is Renato Rascel, highly unlikely in the role of pirate, however his surreal comic verve made him ideal for the narrative adventures and musical numbers. Alongside him, numerous stars of song and dance theatre of the period, perfectly suited to staging the music of the great Gorni Kramer. If you believe that the “out-of-fashion” can have a special charm, then this is the perfect film to confirm it.

The pirate Alvaro, despite not exactly being an audacious dare-doer, wants to get his hands on a treasure. Too bad he only has half of the map. The missing section is in the possession of Isabella, his promised bride. To find his beloved and complete the map, he will have to overcome various obstacles and entertain us with song and dance,
