A fantasy Mad Max-style film, a mix of western, adventure and horror
An injection of adventure that never lets up
Endgame is set in a Mad Max-esque post-apocalyptic world, enthusiastic fantasy mixed with a helping of spaghetti western and La decima vittima, Elio Petri’s “high-brow” classic of Italian science fiction which featured a deadly game set in a dystopian future. There is also a dose of horror (wandering mutant monsters created by skilled make-up artists) and a decisive injection of rough and ready action and adventure. If that’s still not enough, it also features Laura Gemser, better known as “Black Emanuelle”. Enjoy the cocktail.
The year is 2025 and the USA has been ravaged by nuclear bombs. The despotic regime keeps the public entertained with a live TV show called “Endgame”, a combination of a manhunt and gladiator battles. One of the champions is Shannon. When losing in battle, he is saved by a young woman with telepathic powers. She convinces him to lead a ragged group of survivors to Europe to build a new civilisation.
