Endgame is set in a Mad Max-esque post-apocalyptic world, enthusiastic fantasy mixed with a helping of spaghetti western and La decima vittima, Elio Petri’s “high-brow” classic of Italian science fiction which featured a deadly game set in a dystopian future. There is also a dose of horror (wandering mutant monsters created by skilled make-up artists) and a decisive injection of rough and ready action and adventure.
