Synopsis

A vibrant comedy that was ahead of its time

Claudia Cardinale has never been more radiant

A wonderful comedy that is completely free of pretentiousness. If we can avoid being overly distracted by the enjoyable light-hearted scenarios created by the vibrant screenplay and direction, we may even take note of a precursory detail: the woman at the centre of this film is somewhat ahead of her time, but with her joys and her delusions it appears as though she is simply waiting for the sexual revolution to arrive. Claudia Cardinale is radiant: no actress could have been better suited for the role.

Tired of her married life in Bordeaux, a woman moves to Paris. She becomes the lover of a popular novelist, but they are forced to separate when he withdraws to write his new work. She looks for consolation elsewhere, finding new lovers and new disappointments.
