Synopsis

The most effective and unpresentable cop in Italian cinema avoids the gas chamber and gets the jobs done in America

Yet again another detective-comedy adventure for Tomas Milian’s Nico Giraldi who, by now, has entered into popular folklore. This time, almost the entire film is set in America, between New York and Las Vegas, giving Milian the perfect opportunity to unleash a compendium of jokes built around his less-than perfect mastery of English, serve a tricolour pizza, pay homage to the Cosmos Football Team captained by Giorgio Chinaglia, dance like John Travolta, brusquely reject a nagging and unwelcome admirer, and save himself from capital punishment. Without ever forgetting how he got there in the first place: by being a talented and acrobatic cop with a quick Roman tongue.

A member of the Mafia called as a witness in a trial is murdered inside Viterbo prison. To catch the culprit, Detective Nico Giraldi is sent to New York. His investigations lead him to infiltrate Cosa Nostra and, following a series of adventures, he almost ends up condemned to death in the gas chamber. But don’t worry, Giraldi knows how to look after himself.
